Summary

Fame and glory await the winner of the annual Dungeon Derby. Compete in a high stakes race through perilous dungeons, where lives are lost, dreams are shattered, and fortunes are made!

This is a Dungeons and Dragons themed party game for 5-50 people.

Players choose a jockey, name a mount, and roll d20s in race through a murderous magical maze. The first to 100 points wins! Survival not guaranteed.

History and Traditions

In 610 of the 4th Age, the first Dungeon Derby was organized by the ancient and powerful Darbiserian vat Elustia; This was shortly after making herself a home in the labyrinthine caves below The Heaven’s Teeth mountain range.

For reasons beyond the ken of lesser mortals, she opens the caverns to the surface dwellers once a year for a weeklong festival. When the protective runes and and gates are unlocked, the abandoned underground city is repopulated overnight. Casinos, brothels, galas, taverns, and drug dens spring to life. Political and financial dynasties have been born and broken here.

The main event, however, is the Dungeon Derby. Each day, a series of races pit jockeys against a devious and winding racetrack through the bowels of Heaven’s Teeth. To compete you must be a member of the local tribes or communities that live beneath the mountains.

Rivers of gold and platinum coins run through the bookies’ offices as bets are placed on the various heats. The final race is unique each year; a brutal bespoke gauntlet of traps both magical and mundane, designed by Darbiserian herself.

The Tournament

There are five heats each day, over five days. The top two winners of the each heat move on to the finals. The sixth day is the true tournament. A full day of back to back elimination heats, each with five contestants, where any survivors move on to the final free-for-all.

Optional Race Track

For added excitement, use chalk or masking tape to mark 100 sections along the ground (or get a 100ft measuring tape). Each player moves along the track, staying in line with the section number the matches their current score. Hilarious and literal jockeying ensues!
